Septic Tank Pumping
Pumping out a septic tank every few years is good for your system. It helps to remove sludge and solids that haven't broken down over time. This gives more room in the tank for new material to enter and break down.
Overtime, the amount of sludge and solids can increase to the point that no new water can be introduced into the system (gross, but true!). This excess can also cause filters and baffles to clog up.
To be safe, we recommend pumping your septic tank every 3-5 years. Of course, this can vary depending on the number of people living in the home and if you're putting things like grease, food waste, baby wipes, and feminine products down the drain. Though additives may be helpful in some cases, they tend to do more harm than good. Check out the article below to see why we don't recommend using additives in your septic tank.
